Prisca Muza, of Mucheke A, appeared in court on Thursday seeking maintenance of $150 per month from Mr Urayai Mutevedzi, a prominent businessman from Nyika growth point in Bikita.
Before granting the order, magistrate Mr Jabulani Mzinyathi checked through the court records and realised that Muza was seeking maintenance for the second time from a different man for the same child. It was established that she had been granted a $40 maintenance order for the same 15-month-old son from one Mr Charles Rungano, of Masvingo, barely two weeks earlier.
Magistrate Mrs Sibonginkosi Mkandla granted the initial order on 7 January.
She had her application dismissed by Mr Mzinyathi who told her not to waste the court’s time.
“This application is dismissed with the contempt it deserves for it demonstrates that the child is someone else’s and does not belonging to Mr Urayai Mutevedzi. This is clearly stated in case M05/13,” said Mr Mzinyathi. “You have wasted court’s time and you also want to double dip.”
