A fight between a couple from Old Tafara in Harare ended tragically after the two stabbed each other with a knife resulting in the death of the wife while the husband is in critical condition in hospital.
Enerst Musanza (32) is now facing a charge of murdering Melody Musikanzwi, who was aged 30, with Harare Magistrate Mrs Vongai Guwuriro remanding him in custody from his hospital bed on Saturday.
He was advised to apply for bail at the High Court and the matter will be back in court on April 12 for a routine remand hearing.
The State alleges that on Friday, March 31 at around 2am, the two had a misunderstanding at their house.
They started fighting, resulting in Musanzi using an okapi knife and kitchen knife to stab the now deceased on both thighs, nose, neck, both arms, both breasts, both cheeks and left ear.
A report was made to police who arrived at the crime scene to see Musikanzwi lying in a pool of blood in a bedroom at house number 3148 Old Tafara.
Her body was taken to Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals for postmortem
On the other hand, Musanza was found lying on a bed unconscious and police noted that he also had a stab wound on the chest.
He was arrested as soon as he regained consciusness and was taken to Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals for treatment where he is said to be in serious condition.
Police recovered a blood stained okapi knife and kitchen knife in the house.
