A WOMAN whose husband deserted her for a mistress while she was pregnant has filed a $20,000 lawsuit against her love rival.
Tasiyana Chenga, of Gweru, filed summons at the Bulawayo High Court naming Shelter Zenzele Ndebele as the woman in an adulterous affair with her husband.
Chenga said as a result of the adulterous affair, her husband Wonder Dzikamai has since abandoned his family and applied for divorce.
Chenga and her husband got married on August 30, 2011, in terms of Chapter 5:11 of the Marriages Act.
“The marriage still subsists,” said Chenga in court papers filed by her lawyers Gundu and Dube Legal Practitioners.
She accused Ndebele of deliberately engaging in an adulterous relationship with her husband since 2015 and demanded $20,000 in adultery damages.
“As a result of the defendant’s adulterous relationship with my husband, he has since left me and our children and abandoned our matrimonial home to stay with Ndebele,” said Chenga.
She said she delivered in January this year after her husband left her pregnant. Chenga said as a result of Ndebele’s actions, she has suffered damages in the form of loss of conjugal rights, love and affection and was affected by emotional and psychological stress.
The woman also accused her rival of influencing her husband to divorce her.
Chenga is seeking an order compelling Ndebele to pay her $20,000 calculated with interest from the date of summons to the date of full and final payment. She also wants Ndebele to pay the cost of suit.
Ndebele has yet to enter a notice of appearance to defend the summons.
