Woman kills and dumps infant in disused toilet

POLICE have arrested a woman (20) who allegedly killed and dumped her daughter (2 months) in a disused toilet.

In a statement, police said the offense came to light when the suspect’s husband found her without a child on 22 December 2023 leading to the police managing to retrieve the remains from the disused toilet.

The incident occurred on 21 December 2023 at Charigwati Village, Seke after the suspect escaped from her husband to Mayambara Village.

“Police in Chitungwiza have arrested a 20-year-old woman for a case of infanticide in which she allegedly dumped her two-month-old daughter in a disused toilet at Charigwati Village, Seke, on 21/12/23. The suspect had escaped from Chitungwiza while her husband had gone to work and relocated to Mayambara Village, Seke. The offense came to light after the husband found the suspect without the child on 22/12/23. The police have since retrieved the remains from the disused toilet,” reads the statement.
