IN a suspected case of superstition, a 35-year-old woman killed her fathera��s cock and burnt it before smashing his car windows, fridge and one of the bedroom doors suspecting they were sources of misfortune bedevilling the family.

Dorothy Chikomo destroyed her father Heavenstar Chikomoa��s property claiming it was punishment against him for not attending to their problems.A� This was also after the death of her younger sister Blessing under mysterious circumstances.

Dorothy said before her sister died, she revealed that there were some mysterious a�?things manifestinga�? at the house especially on the cock, in the car, fridge and in one of the bedrooms whose door she also destroyed.

The unusual revelation emerged at the Bulawayo Civil Court where Dorothy had been dragged by her father.

Heavenstar from Nketa 8 told the court that Dorothy does not respect him as her father adding that she put his patience to the test when she killed his a�?speciala�? cock and burnt it.Although he forgave her for destroying his property, Heavenstar said he still wanted her to respect him as her biological father.

a�?Dorothy is my biological daughter and she does not respect me as her father. She is always scolding me. On 19 January she destroyed one of my bedrooms door and fridge and dumped it at the gate.

a�?She went on to kill my cock and burnt it before smashing my car windows. I have since deserted my house because of her violent behaviour,a�? said a troubled Heavenstar.

He said whenever he tried to reprimand Dorothy; she would threaten to file a false rape allegation against him.In response, Dorothy did not however, dispute her fathera��s accusations.

a�?Everything he stated is true. Firstly let me say I had a younger sister Blessing who died on 30 December last year.
a�?What happened is that when she was ill I travelled all the way from Harare to Bulawayo and took her back to Harare so that she could be attended to by doctors. All the doctors we consulted could not, however, tell what her problem was.

a�?After she was discharged from the hospital she later died at home and in my bedroom. While her body was still in my bedroom my father stood at the door and said a�?bettera��.

a�?I was disturbed by those words,a�? said Dorothy while adding that when she later asked her father why he didna��t take Blessing to the hospital, she didna��t get satisfactory reasons.

Further, asked by the presiding magistrate Sheunesu Matova why she destroyed her fathera�?s property, Dorothy said:

a�?I was angry after I realised that while we were still mourning my younger sister my father was busy concerned about material things.

a�?He is also not attending to some issues affecting our family for example on why we are jobless and mysteriously dying.

a�?Another issue is that whenever a person from our family dies, they make some shocking declarations. For instance Blessing told me that there were some mysterious things which were happening at the house especially in the fridge and on the cock which I later killed. She also told me about the clothes of my other late sister which our father still kept in the car which I also destroyeda�?.

The seemingly shocked magistrate, before he referred the two parties for counseling, however, ordered Dorothy to amicably resolve problems with her father and not to destroy his property.
