A WOMAN from Mberengwa stunned a traditional court gallery when she claimed that she had sex on over 300 occasions with her estranged live-in boyfriend and is demanding $20 compensation for each time she engaged in sex with the man. Melisa Nyoni of Bara village, under Chief Maziofa, dragged her estranged boyfriend, Wilfred Mhlanga, to the traditional court contesting separation.
She argued that Mhlanga, who she spent the last five years with, wasted her time and she could have made a lot of money if she had engaged in prostitution instead of sleeping with him.
Nyoni said she also could have found a loving husband during the years she spent with Mhlanga.
A source who attended the traditional court held at Chief Maziofa’s homestead on Wednesday said: “Everyone at the gallery was stunned after Nyoni told the traditional leader who was presiding over the case that she had sex with Mhlanga on more than 300 occasions and needed at least $20 per session as compensation”.
Mhlanga, however, quickly objected to the demands arguing that they were “unreasonable”.
The source said even the chief was shocked by Nyoni’s demands and advised her to approach the civil courts for recourse.
“Nyoni had insisted her demands were reasonable.” She said she could have charged and made that much if she had engaged in prostitution.
Apparently, Nyoni was incensed by the fact that Mhlanga left her and was now seeing a neighbour. Mhlanga was living with Nyoni at her late parents’ homestead.
Chief Maziofa said he could not rule on that matter and advised Nyoni to approach the civil courts at Mberengwa magistrate courts.
The chief confirmed referring Nyoni to the civil court at Mberengwa Business Centre.
He said: “I referred Nyoni to the higher courts at Mberengwa after she insisted on being compensated. She argued that she could have made a lot of money if she had engaged in commercial sex. She now wants compensation for every occasion that she had sex with her ex-boyfriend.”
Mhlanga yesterday declined to comment on the matter while his ex-lover Nyoni could not be reached.
