Woman to appear in court after baby was found in freezer

A 27-year-old woman is expected to appear before the Odendaalsrus Magistrate’s Court in the Free State, South Africa today after a case of concealment of birth was opened against her.

This follows the discovery of a newborn baby in a deep freezer in Odendaalsrus. The body of the newborn baby was wrapped in a tracksuit top and placed inside a plastic bag.

On police arrival, the body was already frozen and paramedics certified the baby dead. Police say the mother was not at the rented house when the body was discovered and upon a search, she handed herself over to the police the next day. – (AfroGazetteNews)
