TWO Bulilima men allegedly raped a woman during a drinking spree on Christmas Day.
Mayibongwe Ncube, 23, and Maclean Bhebhe, 22, both of Mbila Village allegedly raped a 20-year-old woman who is also from the same village at around 2PM at a bushy area near Mbila Business Centre.
The woman, a court heard, was on her way from doing Christmas shopping for her family.
Ncube and Bhebhe yesterday appeared before Plumtree magistrate, Livard Philemon facing rape charges.
They were both remanded in custody to January 11.
Prosecuting, Charlotte Katerere said Ncube and Bhebhe noticed the woman leaving the business centre heading towards home alone and they followed her at a distance.
“On December 25, Ncube and Bhebhe who were drinking beer at a business centre followed the woman as she left the area proceeding to her home while carrying some goods which she had bought from the shops.
“They caught up with her in a bushy area a few metres from the business centre and they took turns to rape her. The woman tried to scream for help but the two men who were acting in common purpose covered her mouth to stop her from alerting passersby,” said Katerere.
She said the two men fled from the scene leaving their victim lying on the ground.
Katerere said the woman proceeded to the business centre where she sought help from villagers who also assisted her to identify her attackers.
The matter was reported to the police resulting in the arrest of the two men.
