A NIECE of former speaker of the Nation Assembly, Lovemore Moyo has reportedly gone into hiding after she made frivolous allegations surrounding the death of her father, Mr Victor Moyo who passed away in 2005.
Ms Moyo had filed a number of complaints with the police and gave media interviews where she claimed her father, who was also now an MDC activist was murdered under police custody.
The late Mr Moyo is a brother to former Speaker of Parliament, Mr Lovemore Moyo.
“The issue is Ms Moyo claimed her father died because of his political ties, mainly his operations within the MDC.
“He had been arrested on suspicion of inciting political violence, of which there was no evidence but shockingly he died while in custody,” said a relative who requested anonymity.
Mr Moyo had ditched Zanu-PF, where he was in wat veterans provincial executive to join MDC where he was especially vocal on the activities of the former freedom fighters.
Family sources claimed, Ms Moyo disappeared after she claimed she was receiving threatening anonymous phone calls and strange vehicles following her.
She is suspected to have skipped the country with her son, Bernice Lindokuhle Moyo.
The source further claimed Bernice had also reported that he was being followed by strange cars to and from school, with reports that at one point one of the vehicles attempted to lure him in but he had run back to school reporting the matter to school officials.
“As a family it was a sad experience because after losing our father, we did not envisage that we will lose a sister just like that because as it stands we do not even know where they are.
“We hope they are safe wherever they are because before she disappeared she was living under fear especially for her son,” said the family member.
Police sources further confirmed that Ms Moyo was on their wanted list to answer charges related to her allegations against the police.
