THE Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce in collaboration with the Women Alliance of Business Associations in Zimbabwe is set to hold the inaugural Women in Business Conference on 5 September. The conference is aimed at assessing the role and celebrating the success of women entrepreneurs in the economic development of Zimbabwe.

The event will be held under the theme “The roadmap to Zimbabwe’s desired future: Assessing and recognising women contribution to the economy.”

ZNCC public relations officer Mr Willard Razawo said the conference is going to provide a platform for dialogue.
“The conference is expected to look at the challenges and strengths of modern businesswomen and redefining women’s economic roles,” he said.

Mr Razawo also said aspiring businesswomen at the conference are going to get the opportunity to interact with renowned successful businesswomen.

“Women are going to be given a chance to interact and this is certainly going to play an important part in motivating them,” Mr Razawo said.
He added that “the event is going to be a confidence booster taking into consideration that the business arena has been dominated by men.”

ZNCC says the conference is not only restricted to women in business but to all interested parties including men.
Some of the issues to be discussed include policy impact on women economic empowerment, accessibility of funding by women in business, role of ICTs acting as a catalyst for women economic development, managing perceptions on women ability and enhancing women judiciousness in business.
