young female bankers was hailed as a good initiative that has filled a gap for corporate women.
Its objective is to link women in the marketplace and create a power base from which women can scale to greater heights.
The founders of the network – Edna Mukurazhizha, a country head asset finance with one of the leading regional banks in Zimbabwe and Priscilla Munyeza, head corporate banking with another well established banking institution in the country.
The two women are both high scorers in the banking sector and are endowed with high qualifications including degrees and MBAs.
They have 26 years of experience in the banking sector between them.
“Woman Excel’s target group is women in the corporate sector, particularly those who desire to rise up the corporate ladder and become captains of industry.
“The founders had identified a gap within the existing women’s platforms which they intend to fill. A woman’s network is not a new concept in Zimbabwe.
“However, while there has been a tremendous and successful drive in building forums for rural and township women by the not-for-profit sector, corporate women have gone unnoticed. Woman Excel has started an initiative specifically targeting the woman in the office environment, with her unique needs and aspirations,” read a statement from the organisation.
At lest 250 women witnessed the launch Women Excel in Harare a fortnight ago.
Women who are captains of industry graced the launch and gave testimonies of how they got to the top.
Merchant Bank of Central Africa managing director Mrs Charity Jinya, NicozDiamond managing director Mrs Grace Muradzikwa, Kingdom Financial Holdings chief executive Mrs Lynn Mukonoweshuro and Proweb founder Mrs Florence Ziumbe shared their experiences at the launch of Women Excel.
