Women PR practitioners honoured

ZIMBABWE Newspapers Limited public relations manager (digital and publishing division) Mrs Pauline Matanda was named one of the Best public relations practitioners under the Community Givers category on Friday at the Public Relations, Communications and Marketing Awards.

The awards, organised by the Institute of Public Relations and Communication Zimbabwe (IPRCZ), honoured Mrs Matanda for her dedication to uplifting underprivileged communities.

“I am humbled by this recognition from IPRCZ; I commend the institution for noticing the community work we are doing as a company,” she said.

“I also applaud the Zimpapers family for a sound corporate social responsibility policy and for supporting the execution of the initiatives. We work and win in teams.”

Prospect Lithium public relations manager Mrs Rugare Dhobbie was recognised among the best practitioners under the Bridge Builders category.

She was honoured for her ability to bridge the gap between business goals and customer expectations.

“I thank the Institute of Public Relations and Communication Zimbabwe for recognising my good work.

“It is a result of teamwork, hence l dedicate it to the Prospect Lithium Zimbabwe family, especially the stakeholder department,” she said.

Former Zimpapers staffers Shamiso Yikoniko and Tariro Kamangira were also honoured with certificates of recognition for their work under the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Champions; and Rising Stars categories, respectively.

Bindura Nickel Corporation managing director Mr Thomas Lusiyano, who was guest of honour at the awards ceremony, urged women to break barriers.

“Ours remains a paternalistic society and women have to fight hard; it is so vital that we celebrate you this way.

“Opening doors for other women to come in is also important. I strongly encourage you to continue holding each other’s hand; continue to create opportunities for others.”

The event was attended by marketing and public relations practitioners drawn from across the country.
