FEMALE referees have completed a week-long FIFA Member Association Referees Course in Bulawayo aimed at improving their fitness, technical knowledge and match management.

The all-female programme ended last Friday after a week of technical and physical sessions designed to prepare the officials for the demands of competitive football.

“The course provided the referees with an opportunity to sharpen their knowledge, improve their fitness and gain valuable insights that they can take into their assignments on the field,” ZIFA said.

The closing ceremony was attended by FIFA physical fitness instructor Mark Mzengo of Malawi and guest of honour Tizirayi Luphahla, the ZIFA Southern Region board member responsible for administration.

The officials will now take those lessons into competitive assignments, where their decision-making, positioning, fitness and composure will be tested under pressure.
