ZIMBABWE’S senior women’s side wrapped up its second camp for the International Handball Federation Nations Trophy Africa – Zone VI tournament on Sunday, with the technical team trimming the squad to 21 players.
The first camp was held last month before the provisional squad regrouped over the weekend at Highfield High School in Harare.
Senior women’s team coach Tawanda Mapira said they were stepping up preparations for the final phase of their build-up to the regional tournament.
“In preparation for the main camp that is coming before travelling to Zambia for the Zone VI, we have got three players per position, where we are supposed to have two players per position.
“We have decided to have at least one reserve in case we have some injuries,” said Mapira.
The 21 players are expected to meet for the final camp early next month, with the coaches expected to come up with the final 14 who will travel to Lusaka, Zambia, for the regional event.
The tournament is pencilled in for September 15 to 19.
