ZIMBABWE can go all the way and win medals at the hockey Africa Cup of Nations tournament that kicks off on Monday in Accra, Ghana, the team’s coach Patricia Davies has said.

The competition will run until January 23, with both women and men participating.

Zimbabwe’s representative, the women’s side, left for Ghana yesterday.

They are in Group A alongside South Africa, Namibia and Uganda.

Davies expressed confidence of a fruitful outing although they are up against strong opposition.

“The team is very fit. It’s been playing for quite a long time and I think I have a lot of expectations for them because we all are just trying to get onto the podium That’s what we are trying to do. I think they have got a good chance, one of the best chances of getting to the top,” said Davies.

Zimbabwe get their campaign against South Africa on Monday before taking on Uganda the following day and conclude their group games against Namibia on Wednesday.

The team’s captain Mary Houghton has also rallied the team to bring their A-game and make an impression at the continental competition.
