Cletus Mushanawani in Mutare
THE Zanu-PF Manicaland Women’s League executive yesterday booted out its chairperson Cde Joyline Chipo Porusingazi and her vice, Cde Loveness Mutezo over a number of allegations, among them pursuing a factional agenda and undermining the authority of President Mugabe.
A total of 22 members out of 38 signed the vote of no confidence which was read to the Press by the executive’s secretary for administration, Cde Happiness Nyakuedzwa at the Manicaland Provincial Administrator’s Conference Room in Mutare.
Cde Nyakuedzwa will be the interim chairperson.
“We, the undersigned members of the provincial Women’s League executive, having met in Mutare to deliberate on the goings-on in the provincial party affairs and dissatisfied with the conduct and performance of the provincial chairlady, Joyline Chipo Porusingazi and vice-provincial chairlady, Loveness Mutezo, we hereby pass a vote of no-confidence in the two by appending our signatures below.
“The chairlady and her vice were found jointly and severally responsible for the following: (1) Pursuing a factional agenda in the leadership of the province by undermining the authority of the President and First Secretary of the party, HE Cde Robert Gabriel Mugabe; (2) Poorly mobilising and appearing aloof during the First Lady, Dr Grace Mugabe’s rally at Sakubva Stadium on October 10, 2014 and their failure to condemn the bussing in of rowdy youths who openly tried to disrupt the First Lady’s rally by being rowdy and violent; (3) Holding kangaroo meetings to discuss provincial Women’s League issues outside official structures, thereby abetting divisions in the party and (4) Leading the league on the basis of gossip, thereby undermining unity in the Women’s League.”
Both Cdes Porusingazi and Mutezo could not comment on the development. They said they were not aware of the meeting.
The dismissal of the two came barely a week after the booting out of the controversial Cde Sheila Mutsenhu who was provincial youth deputy secretary for tourism and provincial youth secretary for security, Cde Emmanuel Tavaziva.
The two were shown the door by the provincial youth executive last Friday for causing chaos and humiliating top leaders.
The youth provincial leadership arrived at the decision after the two allegedly hired a mob to disrupt the provincial co-ordinating committee meeting held at Marymount Teachers’ College.
Meanwhile, our Harare Bureau reports that in Mashonaland West the ruling party provincial youth executive has dropped four of its members, including political commissar Cde Jackson Chizanga, through a vote of no confidence.
They are accused of causing divisions in the province by setting up parallel structures.
Provincial youth chairman Cde Vengai Musengi said the action was in accordance with Article 29:251 of the Zanu-PF constitution.
Also booted out were Cdes Dominic Muza, Menard Waneke and Talent Muduvuri. At least 24 out of 38 youth league members signed in support of the motion at a meeting held in Chinhoyi on Wednesday.
“We, the undersigned, constituting the Mashonaland West Provincial Youth League members, passed a vote of no confidence in Cdes Jackson Chizanga, Dominic Muza, Menard Waneke and Talent Muduvuri on 12 November 2014,” reads the petition copied to acting chairman Cde Ziyambi Ziyambi.
“The affirmation and confirmation of the majority of the provincial youth league members is per our signatures appended hereto.
“The aforementioned comrades have set up parallel youth league structures in the province in breach and defiance of the party constitution. They defy protocol and hierarchy as set out by the constitution to suit their selfish agenda.”
Cde Musengi said the quartet disregarded youth league resolutions and fed the private media with falsehoods.
The four also stand accused of disrespecting the First Lady Cde Grace Mugabe through the social media over the recently held “Meet the People” rallies, saying they were “unconstitutional rallies”.
In Masvingo, ousted provincial chair of the Women’s League Cde Shylet Uyoyo has hit back at her rivals, who passed a vote of no confidence against her on Tuesday, by passing a counter vote of no confidence against Cde Veronica Makonese and three other members of the league’s executive.
She accused them of promoting factionalism and destabilising the ruling party.
Cde Makonese had been appointed acting chairlady after some members of the Women’s League passed a vote of no confidence against Cde Uyoyo at the Chiefs’ Hall.
They accused Cde Uyoyo of promoting factionalism, incompetence and dictatorial tendencies in the running of the league’s affairs.
But 24 members of the Women’s League met at the Chiefs’ Hall on Wednesday and declared Cde Uyoyo’s ouster null and void and passed a counter suspension on Cde Makonese and her three other colleagues.
The counter vote of no confidence against Cde Makonese came as 24 members of the Youth League also passed a vote of no confidence against three members of the organ in the province.
Those booted out from the youth league were secretary for administration Cde John Chitoro, Cde Nobert Ndirombe, the secretary of science and technology development, together with Cde Brine Munyoro, the deputy secretary for the disabled.
