Zanu-PF Women’s League national secretary for finance Cde Caroline Tsitsi Mugabe has issued a stern warning to party members against abusing social media, especially ahead of the harmonised elections. This came after allegations that some Women’s League members from Mashonaland West province recently circulated a letter attacking the party secretary for Women’s League, Cde Mabel Chinomona, on social media.
Cde Mugabe, who was recently appointed Mashonaland West provincial Women’s League acting chairwoman, issued the warning while addressing her first provincial meeting at the party’s provincial offices in Chinhoyi last week.
“As Mashonaland West women, we want to open a new page,” she said.
“I plead with you: do not write letters when you are emotional. Please avoid using social media to air your grievances attacking your seniors.
“If you are wronged anyhow, just try to humble yourself. Let’s have bold hearts since we are now going towards elections.”
Cde Mugabe said the wing would set up a social media group meant to enhance the thrust of the party, not for personal vendettas
“We should set up a women’s agenda group on social media,” she said.
“The group should serve its sole purpose. We should be proud that even if we are to open it before our leaders, they will say our province is well organised.
“Using the very same media, our target should be to campaign for the party’s First Secretary and President, Cde Emmerson Mnangagwa, and the party as a whole.”
Speaking at the same meeting, Cde Mary Stella Boni, the wing’s acting political commissar, discouraged the abuse of social media, saying it had the potential to negatively impact on the country.
