Women’s soccer clash on Saturday

THREE Bulawayo women’s Division One football teams will clash over the weekend in a mini tournament at Mpopoma High School.

Mposa Academy are the organisers of the event.

Bulawayo  Galaxy, Mposa Academy and Street Set FC are set to compete.

Moslin Nkala, the team manager of Mposa confirmed  that they would take on Bulawayo Galaxy and Street Set on Saturday.

She is looking forward to their match and has promising players like Patience Ndlovu who plays in the Mighty Warriors team, Tatenda Gambiza and  Talent Nyoni Baku who are in the national junior teams.

“I’m anticipating the game between my team and Bulawayo Galaxy to be tough because it is a match which will determine where my girls stand as a  team and will highlight where we are supposed to polish up our game, Galaxy is a strong team, it will be a clash of the giants,” said Nkala.

It  is Mposa’s second friendly match after playing Highlanders Royals whom they beat 4-2.

Watson  Phiri, the Bulawayo Galaxy coach said that the girls are ready for the tri-club tournament.

Galaxy lost 3-0 to Street Set and drew with Mposa 2-2 recently.

“Mposa has quality players and some  play in the national team, so we are looking forward to the game, it’s going to be a good experience for the girls and for Street Set,” said Phiri.

Street Set boss Lee Mangena confirmed their participation.

They  will be facing Mposa for the first time since 2021.

“I think we still need about six players to solidify the team, if all goes well we might unleash some players that  were seconded to us by a certain high school and a few on loan from a club in the Premier League that we have good relations with,” said Mangena.
