WORD of Life International Ministries (WOLIM) will be offering free health care services to Bulawayo residents as part of the church’s silver jubilee celebrations on Wednesday. The church, whose vision is “Affecting the community for Christ in every sphere spiritually, politically, culturally and socially” will be upping its social responsibility programme during the celebrations.

WOLIM City Centre Branch pastor, Busisa Moyo told The Chronicle the church had partnered with various service providers to effect the free health check up.

“We’re partnering with service providers, the event will offer BP checks, diabetes checks and give information on general health to the public free of charge. Service providers who will be participating include National Blood Transfusion, Zimbabwe National Family Planning Council, Zimbabwe Republic Police, Childline, National Aids Council, Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights and Population Services International,” said Pastor Moyo.

He said the church had grown spiritually and numerically over the years because of residents’ support.

“As WOLIM we recognise that our success is embedded in the community in which we operate. As a church we’re giving back to the community by availing free basic health checks and professional services,” he said.

“WOLIM Bulawayo City Centre is holding a community outreach programme on Wednesday 15, July 2015 at Pick and Pay premises to celebrate 25 years of ministry and of existence in Bulawayo,” said Pastor Moyo.

Goodwill Shana and Pastor Maureen Shana formed the church in November 1990.

It has over 10,000 members and 35 branches throughout the world.
