A MUSICAL production titled “Christmas Foretold” takes place at Celebration Centre in Harare from December 6 to 8. The play was written by Pastor Bonnie Deuschle of the Celebration Centre and was designed to reveal the story of Jesus Christ in an innovative way. “Christmas Foretold” was staged in December 1993, in Harare at the Harare International Conference Centre and the demand for the musical drama brought it back on stage in 2012.Pastor Deuschle said the play has become bigger and better with lots of entertainment packaged in it.
The respected pastor said the drama will be more exciting this year and they have added some spice to it.
“This year the play is more polished and we have incorporated more than 300 characters catering for all races.
“The production portrays three main characters – a powerful king, a shy young shepherd and a poor old woman – who embark on separate journeys searching for the king,” she said. What makes the play more exciting is the multi-racial cast.
“The cast includes children as young as one to adults as old as 70 years. We are looking forward to make it a yearly event, if we manage to get more sponsors on board.
“I am also encouraging all the Zimbabweans to come with their children and friends to enjoy this play during this festive season,” she added.
The three-day event will feature an extravagant light display, brilliant dancing and a vibrant children’s choir and it will be aired live on the local radio channel Zi-FM on the first day of the run. Like last year, the drama will be aired on ZTV on Christmas Day.
