N’OMBEYAWORA head coach Nesbert ‘Yabo’ Saruchera is bullish about his team’s prospects, believing he has a strong squad capable of achieving their goals.
Yabo has consistently stated that they are competing for the title as they push for promotion to the top flight.
“We have never hidden our intentions. We started by assembling a strong squad, and we are happy with the progress so far,” said Yabo.
N’ombeyawora currently sit top the league standings with 36 points, five points clear of second-placed Black Rhinos after 15 matches.
Midfielder Tadiwa Chibunyu has been instrumental for the club and is now the joint top scorer with eight goals, alongside Tinashe Balakasi of Agama and Ignatius Blessed of Black Rhinos.
“Chibunyu is in top form at the moment. We’re hoping and praying he maintains this momentum. He’s definitely on track to reach double figures,” Yabo added.
However, N’ombeyawora have faced dirty tactics from opponents seeking to disrupt their possession-based style of play.
“I hate it when teams resort to dirty play. I wish we could all agree that even when leading, you can strategise to manage the game without resorting to foul play,” Yabo said.
“But we remain focused. We are a good team, and we’ll keep playing our game until we get the results we want.”
Looking ahead, Yabo revealed plans to strengthen the squad with two new signings, particularly strikers, in the upcoming transfer window.
“We’ll add two strikers when the window opens. We want to be even more dangerous in the second half of the season,” he said.
N’ombeyawora’s next challenge is an away fixture against Chegutu Pirates at Pfupajena on Saturday.
