Yabo says Black Rhinos is home

HEAD coach Nesbert “Yabo” Saruchera says he is happy to be back at Black Rhinos. 

Saruchera was brought back to the club where he has spent most of his time as a player and coach following their relegation from the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League last season. 

He will now plot the Black Rhinos’ return via the Northern Region Soccer League, one of the toughest lower leagues in the country. 

Already clubs like Harare City and Mwos have beefed up with experienced players and they will be also aiming for the title.

However, Black Rhinos have kept the bulk of the players who did the job in the topflight last season and also added several faces from sister club Cranborne. 

Saruchera believes the composition of the squad will make them strong enough to compete and book their ticket back to topflight football next year.

“It’s a process. We have started building a strong team that will challenge for the honours. I am happy to be back at my home as you know I am one of the players who played here before,” he said. 

“We are happy and we are going to work flat out that come 2025 we will be back where we belong. 

“Black Rhinos is the flagship for the Zimbabwe National Army and we have been given a mandate to build a strong team going forward so we are going to build a strong team so that it won’t be difficult for us to bounce back in 2025.” 

Saruchera has a rich history of leading teams from Division One to the PSL and said he believes with hard work he will be able to replicate that again.

“Bouncing back won’t be easy but I have already done it before and we are going to make sure we work hard with the other technical team and bring back Chauya Chipembere where it belongs. 

“It’s not going to be easy but some of the players, who are here at Black Rhinos I have already worked with them and that will put us in a better position to understand each other,” he said.
