YADAH Under-21 will this afternoon receive their trophy and medals for winning the 2023 Challenge Football League at Allan Wilson.

The development side for Premiership outfit, Yadah, won the eight-teams league last year and were yet to be honoured.

They got the better of former ZIFA Eastern Region Division One Soccer League side, Prime Academy and Friendly Academy among others.

Today eight Under-21 teams – Prime Academy, Friendly Academy, Effenberg, DC Academy, Yadah U-21, Royal Oak, Black Rhinos and Twinmart Academy – will be battling it out for the Challenge Trophy.

Challenge Football League chairman Samuel Horonga said they are going to hold the Challenge Trophy ahead of the start of their season next week.

“We are going to have the Challenge Trophy at Allan Wilson tomorrow (today) ahead of the resumption of the Challenge Football Under-21 League next week. We will also take the opportunity to honour our 2023 champions Yadah Under-21 at the tournament.

“The challenge league is self-sponsored by the teams and we are happy that these tournaments play a huge role in developing future football stars. We are really grateful to the sponsors for this opportunity they are giving to upcoming football stars.

“We believe in player development and this exposure will go a long way in motivating our young players to keep working hard so that they can achieve their dreams of playing Premier League football,” said Horonga.
