THE Zimbabwe Republic Police has commenced issuing Local Police Clearance Certificate in a move aimed at easing access to police clearance services for companies, organisations and ordinary citizens needing documents for local use.
In a press statement on 2 February 2026, national police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi said: “The Zimbabwe Republic Police advises members of the public that it has commenced the issuance of a Local Police Clearance Certificate, ZRP Form 143, which is identifiable by its yellow colour.”
“Members of the public are advised that this Local Police Clearance Certificate will be issued in the same manner as the International Police Clearance Certificate, ZRP Form 143A. As such, no vetted fingerprints will be released to the fingerprint bearer.”Comm Nyathi stressed that the yellow clearance certificate is strictly for use within Zimbabwe and should not be confused with the international version used for foreign travel, visas or employment outside the country.
He said the move is part of broader reforms within the police service.
“The introduction of the Local Police Clearance Certificate forms part of the Zimbabwe Republic Police’s ongoing efforts to improve service delivery, enhance operational efficiency and respond to the needs of the public in accessing police clearance services for local purposes,” said Comm Nyathi.
He assured the public that there are no changes to the existing fees charged for police clearance certificates.
“Members of the public are further advised that the fees applicable to police clearance certificates remain unchanged that is US$5 for a normal application, which will be processed within seven days and US$10 for an urgent application processed within three days,” he said.
Comm Nyathi encouraged applicants to seek guidance before applying.
“Members of the public are encouraged to visit their nearest police station for further guidance and clarification regarding the application process and the appropriate type of police clearance certificate to apply for.”
