YOU can now call him Prophet Sadomba.
Former Zimbabwe international forward, Edward “Duduza” Sadomba correctly predicted that Herentals had the capacity to knock out Ngezi Platinum in the Munhumutapa Challenge Cup.
Given that the hosts were the favourites, getting into the match, very few would have taken the risk to publicly back Herentals.
But, that is what Sadomba did.
“I have a feeling Herentals can spring some surprises,” he told Zimpapers Sport ahead of the match.
“Herentals are always a tough nut to crack. They have a solid and unpredictable team and are always motivated thanks to their owner, Innocent Benza.
“I am sure they will go to Baobab and try to contain Ngezi so that they force the game into penalties.”
The clash carried an interesting subplot, with Ngezi being coached by former Herentals gaffer Kumbirai Mutiwekuziva.
The Students eliminated MWOS in the Round of 32.
Sadomba pointed to the experience within the Students’ squad, particularly captain Ralph Kawondera, who was part of Triangle United’s Chibuku Super Cup-winning side in 2018.
Kawondera, who has been one of the standout players in the PSL this season, was on target as 10-man Herentals beat Ngezi Platinum 3-1 on Saturday.
Eric Dombo, who was on target, was sent off for a second bookable offence.
“I am very happy with the win, especially against Ngezi at their backyard. It gives us confidence, and the boys are also happy to have delivered,” said Herentals coach Paul Benza.
“This result gives us confidence that we can defeat any opponent as we pursue our goal of reaching the final.”
