You have power to soldier on

Charles Mungoshi Jnr : Versatile Fufu

He sat with his eyes wide open bleeding with a vision of how dark tomorrow would be because she was pulling the plug on what he saw as his only source of life. She sat next to him and looking into his eyes as if ignoring the ever clear broken heart said the words, “I’m done!” He knew it already but tried to deny it before it was said from the bearer of the news. He felt it months back when that flow of energy from her was not the same anymore. The flower was soon drying up and the roots kept fighting but eventually shut down.

“It is toxic”, she said, ”As much as I want to fight for it my weight is weighing me down. I can’t hold up anymore.”

Puzzled and seemingly lost, but aware of self, John shut down into a zone of blackness with darkness so thick it was tangible but only a thought within his mind. He felt like the world had come to an end but she kept telling him that it had only begun, it was life anew she tried to convince him.

He had no strength to pull her back because his foundation had cut short his arms and his reason of standing was the main cause of her pulling the plug. He saw it all flash before him. Her smile that brought him warmth, he wished to have as a permanent gesture of existence. Her tender touch made him feel as if life depends on such tenderness.

He could not argue, arrested to consent with what she thought to be the solution suffered the days and nights to come before they came.

He smiled with a broken heart and still wished she stayed but it was too late. She left before she left. We all know that a decision follows after deep immense sessions of meditation. It was only hard that John was taken off guard and roasted in the rain.

Who said a fire can’t burn in rain? He was left in the mud , mounted in by things he did in a past he could not change drastically. When we can’t get to the heart of the next person who still has our heart, life becomes hollow and meaningless at times. But John you got to soldier on.
