YOUNG business leaders have been urged to remain focussed on their goals and to uphold professionalism to ensure the success of the enterprises they run, according to the executive director of Zimbabwe CEO’s Network Dr Tapiwa Matsika.
Dr Matsika made the remarks during the awards dinner held last Friday at Meikles Hotel in Harare were several young business leaders were awarded for excellence.
“You need to be determined when running a business because there are times that things go southwards but you need to understand the dynamics of the economy.
“I am happy that we have young CEOs who have the zeal to push their brands,” said Dr Matsika.
Zimbabwe CEO’s Network is an exclusive CEO peer group organisation that advances opportunities for learning and development through peer group meetings facilitated by experienced CEO group leaders, targeted one-to-one mentoring, a customised curriculum, and focused learning events throughout the year.
The organisation was born out of the realisation that executive effectiveness was dramatically improved in those rare cases when CEOs met with industry peers.
In as much as CEOs meet informally, their interaction with an industry focus gives the executives not only outside perspective, but also specific, actionable ideas based on directly relevant, real-world experience.
It was launched in 2021.
Among the finalists for the awards was Tawanda Marwizi, the CEO of fledgling Five Star Car Rental who won the Silver Award.
Mr Marwizi said he was happy to receive the award saying “it will work as a motivation”.
“We just have to take heed of the calls because business dynamics needs to be understood.
“There are people who have been in the game for long time and as such we need to take that advice well,” he said.
“Being appreciated is one of the most encouraging things and as such we are keeping going forward,” Mr Marwizi added.
Five Star Car Rental is slowly taking space with most people gaining confidence in the brand.
The company started operating in March this year and is making a huge impact in the tourism sector.
The company is now looking at expanding its services to Mutare and Victoria Falls.
Other winners included Takemore Mazuruse, the CEO of Esteem Communications and Mudiwa Hood and Mandela Katsande of Kimali Investments
