The International Organisation for Migration (IOM) Zimbabwe, a United Nations (UN) agency, has called on young creatives to submit entries for its visuals-inspired competition ahead of International Migrants Day on December 18.
International Migrants Day is observed annually to acknowledge the contributions of the estimated 281 million migrants across the world, while highlighting the challenges they face and the importance of protecting their rights.
The competition is open to Zimbabwean youth aged between 16 and 35, including those based in the diaspora. Young creatives are invited to submit original work in the following categories: Visual Art: digital illustration, painting, photography and film; and Written Art: poetry, short stories and music.
To enter, participants must register through the official IOM Zimbabwe submission form available on the organisation’s platforms. Once registered, entrants are required to post their submission on their personal social media accounts – Instagram, TikTok, Facebook or X using the hashtag #MyGreatStoryIOMZimbabwe.
In a statement, IOM said it is seeking powerful stories that reflect the realities and impact of migration.
“We are calling on young creatives to join our competition for International Migrants Day and share their unique perspectives on migration, identity and resilience through visual art or writing. We are looking for pieces that explore how migration sparks innovation, fosters understanding and builds stronger communities.
“Every journey carries stories, cultures, and ideas that shape and enrich the world around us.”
Outstanding entries stand a chance to win prizes, including a Canon camera and US$350.
