LAST Sunday, Kart Sport Club hosted the third round of their 2025 Club and ROK Cup Zimbabwe Championship at the Pole Position Kart track at the National Sports Stadium.
There was no shortage of excitement as competitors raced on a reverse track configuration that had a completely new section added in for this meeting.
The early action in the Kid ROK Class for competitors from 6 to 10 years saw Sheunesu Shambare stamp his authority with a clean sweep of wins for the day.
Jake Edwards closely followed in second place and posted his personal best time to cap off a solid day. Rookie driver Ragnar Mudzimba had an exciting second race event in this class and led the final race of the day be-fore settling for a stunning 2nd place, leaving him third overall.
Devin Van De Linde was in a league of his own for most of the day and set the standard in a resurgent Mini ROK Class, claiming qualifying pole position and a clean sweep of wins in all four races, which led him to an overall win for the day.
However, he was pushed hard by an in-form Rayyan Savania in second place, who also set the fastest lap time of the day for the class.
Jayden Kerwin and Elroy Shamu pushed each other to the limit with some great racing and finished the day in 3rd and 4th positions.
Rookies Oliver Broadway and Daniel Sadiqi enjoyed their first race out, coming in at 5th and 6th with newcomers Engelbert Mudzimba and Wade Gleig following up in 7th & 8th and will soon be in the pack chasing podiums.
With a good entry of eight karts, all eyes were on the amazing 125 Rotax class, which reached speeds of up to 100kph on the 820-metre track. In qualifying, Tawana Shambare was in blistering form, stunning his competitors with a lap time of 41.114.
Eli Pilossof and Yaseen Savania were also in the mix and only separated by 0.167 seconds.
However, in the races, Zaydaan Savania was determined to put on a good display and kept a cool head, emerging as the overall winner.
He was followed home by a happy Pilossof, who had a very solid day in 2nd, with Seth Rukato only one point be-hind in 3rd position.
Savania experienced brake trouble but still came home in 4th position, with Zayaan Savania 5th, Sam Townsend 6th, Ehsaan Savania 7th and a disappointed Shambare in 8th after having a technical issue.
Not to be outdone, the Pole Position Prokart Class did not disappoint, with spectators treated to some thrilling racing throughout the day.
