ZANU PF Matabeleland South youth chairperson, Cde Moses Langa has implored the youth across the political divide to fully exercise their right to vote and encourage each other to turn out in numbers.
The country goes to the Harmonised Elections on August 23.
Cde Langa, speaking ahead of the historic polls, said they have sent out the clarion call for young people to follow President Mnangagwa’s call for the peace and tolerance as the country heads to the historic polls.
He said the youth of Matabeleland South were ready go and vote as they gear up to defend the gains of the liberation struggle.
“We, the young people of Matabeleland South are fully conscious of how valuable these elections are to the development of our maturing democracy. Being voters in these Harmonised Elections is a demonstration of our appreciation to the country’s forefathers and liberation war heroes who sacrificed for us to exercise this right.
“The message we are sending out is that youth must not be swayed and engage in acts that are unlawful during elections. Let us respect and tolerate each other even after the elections. We all belong to this country and every young person has to act responsible and be aware that we are custodians of the future. As President Mnangagwa has said on many occasions that ‘Ilizwe lakhiwa ngabanikazi balo’, we also have to take note and save the country well,” said Cde Langa
He challenged young people to guard against voter apathy.
“Those who were registered to vote must exercise that right well. Go out and vote.”
Cde Langa went to say that young people have to give President Mnangagwa and Zanu PF the mandate to rule the country so as to realise meaningful development.
He outlined the economic opportunities availed by Government in Matabeleland South Province, saying young people have to support these life changing programmes.
“As the Zanu PF youth league, we stand firm in our support for President Mnangagwa. We want to make sure we vote in our numbers and retain all the seats. Young people in Matabeleland South have to vote Zanu PF.
“There are as many economic programmes from farming, mining and other entrepreneurial opportunities that young people can take advantage of. The time of whining and complaining is over. Let us be proactive, creative and take all the opportunities at hand. As we head to the polls, we call for peace, we call for young people to go and exercise their constitutional right and vote in the Harmonised Elections,” said Cde Langa.
