at the Junior World Rugby Trophy tournament.
Muhambi suffered an ankle injury on Friday during the Zimbabwe Under-20 game against the Under-23 Select at the Cottco schools rugby festival.
But the promising player was thrown into the fray on Saturday when his school played Churchill at the same festival and this aggravated his injury.
And the doctors have indicated that he needs about three weeks to recover, ruling him out of the travelling party, as the side is expected to leave for Georgia next Thursday.
This means Muhambi is expected to fully recover in about two and a half weeks when the tournament will be reaching its climax in Tbilisi.
The exclusion of Muhambi was the only change that was made to the provisional squad and this saw the inclusion of Old Hararians fullback Lungile Tshuma.
According to manager Colleen de Jong, Sinclair was dropped due to educational commitments, as his university would not release him for the junior world tournament.
“Muhambi’s injury will only heal when we are already at the tournament and it is unfortunate he will not make it for the tournament and Sinclair’s college would not excuse him,” said deJong.
Coach Brighton Chivandire believes the side is balanced and is hopeful it will be good enough to reach its target of a top four finish at the tournament.
Teams that finish in the top four of the tournament get an automatic qualification for the next edition while the team that finishes tops gets promoted to the Junior World Cup.
“It is a good and well balanced side and there is enough experience in it to carry us through and we want not only dominate in the continent but the world as well.
“We have always set goals for ourselves and without goals then we would not be doing anything and surely we still are aiming for that top four finish,” said Chivandire.
The Young Sables coach wad happy that some of his players have been named in the expanded Sables squad for African tournament at the end of next month.
“I am happy for the boys that have made it, and obviously being an expanded squad, I am looking forward to them playing in the national colours.
“It is also a good signal that the Sables technical team are looking at continuation and promoting the youth policy,” said the former Sables coach.
The side is expected to depart on Thursday next week and they are also set to get light training sessions.
“It’s unfortunate Muhambi could not make it due to the injury, he has been a good player for us and he is a promising young star whom we rate highly.
“But he is still eligible to play in our next qualifiers (JWRT qualifiers) in July but I would have loved to work with a full squad for selection,” added Chivandire.
