IN-FORM Young Warriors striker Prince Dube is confident that they will turn the tables on West African giants Cameroon when they clash in a crucial 2017 Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations soccer qualifier at Stade Omnisports in Bafoussam on Sunday.
The national Under-20 team are expected to leave for Cameroon tomorrow for the crucial match.
Zimbabwe had a goalless draw with the West Africans at the National Sports Stadium three weeks ago, leaving them needing a scoring draw or a victory of any margin in this Sunday’s return leg to progress to the last qualifying round.
Highlanders forward Dube is expected to lead the team’s attack on Sunday and is hoping to convert his club’s performance to the national team.
Dube’s stock has been rising in the Castle Lager Premiership after graduating from the Bosso juniors. He has since scored four goals and is being touted as one of the emerging talents in the country.
In the first leg, he was a handful for the Cameroonian defenders although the game ended goalless.
Yesterday, he said he was looking to help Zimbabwe get the crucial away goals.
Dynamos midfielder Peace Makaha returns to the fold after missing the last match through suspension. He is also looking forward to the match having last been part of the team in the 2-0 victory against Botswana.
Makaha scored the second goal in Botswana after Bukhosi Sibanda had put Zimbabwe ahead in Gaborone.
Coach Mandla Mpofu said his return will give the team a fresh impetus.
The team’s skipper Ben Musaka also believes his troops are geared for the task ahead and is confident they will get the desired result.
“I think from the first day everyone has been confident that we can get a win in Cameroon.”
