Young Warriors lose opener in Malawi

The national Under-20 team suffered a 3-2 defeat against hosts Malawi in the opening match of the triangular tournament in Lilongwe. 

Malawi led 1-0 after 33 minutes following a defensive blunder by the Young Warriors.

Denzel Mapuwa ensured a 1-1 deadlock at the break but Malawi were to ho 3-1 up in the second half. 

Mapuwa made it 3-2 late in the second half but the Malawians hung on for victory.

Kenya are the third team in the tournament that was initially meant for four teams until Zambia pulled out this week. 

The Young Warriors will be back in action tomorrow when they face Kenya in their final match of the tri-series.
