Zimbabwe 0 -1 Burkina Faso
ZIMBABWE Under-23 side got off to a losing start in their African Games soccer campaign when they fell to a solitary first half goal by Burkina Faso yesterday.

Coach Nation Dube started with his Hwange club goalkeeper Takabva Mawaya and benching How Mine’s Donovan Bernard. Highlanders’ Nqobizitha Masuku was given the armband as Zimbabwe sought a bright start to the tournament, but they could not break the Burkina Faso defence.

Hosts Congo beat Sudan 2-1 to lead the table. Zimbabwe must now beat Sudan in their next match on Thursday if they are to avoid an early flight back home.

Zimbabwe’s starting 11

Takabva Mawaya, Blessing Moyo, Teenage Hadebe, Lawrence Mhlanga, Praise Tonha, Tichaona Chipunza, Knox Mutizwa, Farai Madhanga, Tafadzwa Kutinyu, Malvin Gaki, Nqobizitha Masuku
