Young Warriors ready for Botswana

After watching his side force a 22 draw with Chicken Inn yesterday morning, Tapera declared his satisfaction with the players he has at his disposal. The Young Warriors coach is expected to trim his squad today as the hosts intensify their preparations.
“By the end of day we should have a clear picture of how we are going to play at the weekend. We had our first training match yesterday against a Premiership side (Chicken Inn) and Marshall Marime scored the two goals for us.
“The team is shaping up. Although this is our only practice match it showed us the areas in which we still need some work’’.
Tapera said he had been privileged to pick his squad from across the country as each province had submitted players they felt warranted selection.
“We are working with a group of young talented players and we selected these players from a pool of more than 200 players as each province turned out for selection with about 25 players.
“We don’t know how the players will react under a game situation. We have four players who featured in the previous Under20 edition and we also have two players playing in the Premiership with the bulk of the team being entirely new players,” said Tapera.
Harare City’s Willard Kalongonda, goalkeeper Tonderai Mateyaungwa, Nqobizitha Masuku and Kuda Mahachi are not new to the team having featured in the last two editions of the Cosafa Under20 tournament in Botswana while Vincent Mbira also played for Zimbabwe in the Cosafa Under17. The return leg against the Young Zebras is pencilled in for University of Botswana ground on May 4.  
The Young Zebras who travelled by road arrived in Bulawayo yesterday.
Tapera will however be hoping that it is his Young Warriors who will prevail and meet the winner between Egypt and Angola in the first round.
The African Under20 Championships will be staged in Algeria next year.
