Jesus lifts His eyes to heaven and says, “Father, the hour has come. Glorify Your Son, that Your Son may glorify You.” — John 17:1
These are not the words of a man who is uncertain about his future.
They are the words of One who understands that a divine season has arrived.
For years, Jesus had walked under the discipline of God’s timing.
There were moments when people wanted to make Him king, but it was not yet His hour.
There were moments when His enemies wanted to destroy Him, but it was not yet His hour.
There were seasons of obscurity, teaching, miracles and preparation.
But now, Jesus says, “The hour has come.”
I believe there are people reading this who have been in a season of waiting, praying, believing and trusting God.
The Holy Spirit is saying to you today that God works according to divine seasons.
The God who created summer and winter, seed time and harvest, also ordains seasons in our lives.
There is a season to learn and a season to lead, a season to sow and a season to reap, a season of tears and a season of joy, a season of hiddenness and a season of manifestation.
What is powerful about this prayer is that Jesus recognises His season before anyone else does.
The disciples do not fully understand what is happening, the religious leaders think they are about to eliminate Him and the crowd has no idea what is coming.
But Jesus knows Heaven’s calendar.
He knows that what looks like the end is actually the beginning of a new chapter. Sometimes God will bring you into a new season before the people around you recognise it. Others may still see you according to your past, but God sees you according to your purpose.
The hour Jesus speaks about is not an easy one. It is the hour of the cross, the hour of sacrifice and the hour of complete surrender.
Yet Jesus calls it an hour of glory.
Sometimes God’s greatest glory is revealed through our greatest challenges.
We often expect a change of season to come with comfort, ease and applause, but sometimes a new season comes with stretching, responsibility and faith.
The very thing that looks like a battle may actually be the doorway to your breakthrough and the very thing that looks like a burden may be the platform God will use for His glory.
Jesus does not pray, “Father, glorify Me so that I can be celebrated.” He says, “Glorify Your Son, that Your Son may glorify You.”
The purpose of every blessing, every promotion, every victory and every breakthrough is that God might receive the glory.
When God opens a door for you, it is so people can see His faithfulness.
When God heals you, it is so His power can be revealed.
When God restores your family, prospers your business or expands your ministry, it is so His name can be lifted high.
As you step into a new season, remember that the key to sustaining God’s blessing is giving God the glory.
Pride will make a person think they achieved it by themselves, but humility acknowledges that every good and perfect gift comes from the Lord.
If God is bringing you into a season of increase, let your increase glorify Him.
If God is bringing you into a season of influence, let your influence glorify Him.
If God is bringing you into a season of abundance, let your abundance glorify Him.
Perhaps you have been wondering why the process has taken long.
The answer is that God never releases a harvest before the seed is ready. He never sends the rain before the ground is prepared.
He never calls someone into their hour before they have been shaped by His hand.
The waiting season was not punishment; it was preparation.
The delay was not denial; it was development.
God was teaching you things in private that would sustain you in public.
Today, hear the voice of the Spirit saying, “The hour has come.”
The hour has come to leave fear behind and walk in faith.
The hour has come to move from simply surviving to thriving in God’s purpose.
The hour has come to stop mourning over closed doors and start celebrating the doors God is opening.
The hour has come for promises to be fulfilled, for prayers to be answered and for God’s glory to be seen in ways you have never experienced before.
So, lift your eyes towards heaven like Jesus did and place your trust in the Father.
Your new season is not about your strength or your ability; it is about God’s timing.
And when God’s timing arrives, no opposition can stop it, no enemy can block it and no circumstance can reverse it. What God has ordained, He will accomplish.
Therefore, walk confidently into this new season, declaring, “Father, the hour has come. Be glorified in my life. Be glorified in my family. Be glorified in my calling. Be glorified in everything You have entrusted to me.”
And as God receives the glory, you will see His hand move in ways greater than you ever imagined. Amen.
