Youth Games dinner raises US$400 000

The fundraising-dinner, which was attended by Acting President Joice Mujuru, who was the guest of honour, saw companies, business people and individuals pledge cash, cattle, food and offers to renovate some of the training facilities where the 10th edition of the Games would be staged from August 4.
Minister of Transport, Communications and Infrastructure Development, Nicholas Goche, pledged 11 beasts, five tonnes of maize and US$5 000 while the Minister of Youth Development, Indigenisation and Economic Empowerment, Saviour Kasukuwere, pledged 10 beasts and US$2 000.
Mujuru also pledged two beasts and tonnes of maize. Air Marshall Perrence Shiri pledged tonnes of bananas and a beast while lawyer Jonathan Samukange donated US$ 2 000 cash.
Freda Rebbeca Mine donated US$5 000 cash and offered to renovate tennis courts at Bindura Primary to the tune of US$46 000.
