The Zanu-PF Youth League in Mashonaland West is set to launch the #EDHasMyVote campaign at district level, an official has said.
This follows a provincial launch by the wing’s national secretary Cde Pupurai Togarepi last week.
The Youth League’s provincial political commissar, Cde Tapiwa Chitate, said the campaign would be launched in all the province’s seven administrative districts.
“We are currently launching #EDHasMyVote at district level. Our launch started with the Zvimba administrative district. We will be moving to Mhondoro-Ngezi, followed by other districts,” said Cde Chitate.
The campaign is expected to be completed in a few week’s time.
“In the next couple of days, if not weeks, we expect to have completed the launch in all the seven districts in the province,” he said.
Cde Chitate said the programme would cascade down to all the 22 constituencies, including ward level.
“As indicated by our national secretary Cde Pupurai Togarepi that the #EDHasMyVote should reach every youth in the country, we want to make sure within the shortest period of time we would have reached out to every youth before elections.
“The programme should be cascaded down to even ward level.
“Therefore, as the youth wing, being at the forefront of the campaign, we (will be) moving with pace so that we reach to every youth in the province,” he said.
Provincial youth chairperson Cde Vengai Musengi said the youths, who are the majority both in the party and country, were ready to defend the party through the ballot box.
He urged those who were left out during the Biometric Voter Registration (BVR) exercise to register at Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) designated points.
“As Mashonaland province, we are ready to defend the legacy of Zanu-PF through the ballot box.
“Those who failed to register during the BVR mop-up exercise should do so to ensure our President and the party win resoundingly in the forthcoming elections,” he said.
#EDHasMyVote is one of the youth’s campaign strategies focusing on mobilising support for the party’s presidential candidate in the forthcoming harmonised elections.
