Youths clear air on ‘million men’ march

ZANU-PF deputy youth secretary Cde Kudzai Chipanga yesterday said the “one million men” march scheduled to be held in May is not meant to target any leaders within the ruling party, as reported by some sections of the media.

Yesterday the Daily News led with a story claiming that Zanu-PF youths were planning a massive demonstration against Vice-President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

Running under the headline “G40 plans big anti-VP demo”, the paper claimed: “Well-placed sources who spoke to the Daily News yesterday said although the march would be organised under the guise of the bitterly divided party’s women and youth leagues showing their continued support for Mugabe, its real target would be Mnangagwa.”

However, in an interview yesterday, Cde Chipanga said the march was only in solidarity with President Mugabe as the Youth League wanted to demonstrate their support for him.
