Youths from Nketa 9 in Bulawayo have expressed their gratitude following a recent meeting organized by Action Aid Zimbabwe, where they were given an opportunity to voice their concerns regarding the myriad challenges they face.
The gathering provided a platform for open dialogue, allowing young individuals to discuss pressing issues affecting their lives and the community at large.
One attendee, who wished to remain anonymous, emphasized the impact of a powerful presentation delivered by Sithembile Sibanda, a fellow participant and resident of the suburb.
“Sithembile really touched on issues that resonate deeply with all of us. She spoke about poverty, the struggles we endure under Zanu-PF governance, gender-based inequalities, and the rights of LGBTIQ individuals,” the attendee remarked. “Her courage to share her story and address these topics has inspired many of us to stand up and advocate for our rights.”
Sithembile’s presentation struck a chord with the audience, as she articulated the collective plight of the youth in the region.
Her candid discussion about the intersection of poverty and discrimination provided a stark reminder of the realities many face daily.
“It takes a lot of guts to speak out, especially on issues that many are afraid to address,” the attendee added. “We commend her for her bravery and for giving us a voice.”
The meeting facilitated by Action Aid Zimbabwe has been hailed as a significant step towards empowering the youth of Nketa 9.
Participants expressed hope that discussions like these will lead to greater awareness and action on the issues they face. As the youth continue to advocate for change, they recognize the importance of solidarity and collective action in addressing the challenges that impact their future.
