Youths should emulate the President: Sikhosana

YOUTHS in Bulawayo have been encouraged to emulate leaders like President Mugabe who is a man of integrity, vision and action so that they can build on the foundation he has laid to take the country forward. Speaking during the belated Bulawayo Zanu-PF Provincial 21st February movement celebrations at the City Hall in the city yesterday, Zanu-PF Secretary for Youth Affairs, Cde Absalom Sikhosana, said youths must copy how President Mugabe has lived his life serving the nation with honour.

President Mugabe turned 90 years in February this year.
“Each one of you should try to measure yourself against the character of the President to see where you stand in working for the party. As a youth wherever you are you should be able to behave like a revolutionary as an icon and see if you are able to put your life on the line so as to save the country from any threat,” he said.

He gave an example of the former ambassador to South Africa Phelekezela Mphoko who he said was one of the first guerillas in the early 1960s to go and fight for the liberation of the country.

He said the youths who have leadership positions should be exemplary in their own communities so that even when they want life partners the communities can vouch for them for good behaviour not to be castigated by all.

“In politics we do not want to hear that you have made clashes with women or men fighting over you. That is not the youth we are looking for. Emhlanganweni alilandanga kuthandana, the only authorised love is when you are serious silitshadise lapha emhlanganweni not to play around.

“Other comrades wedded in holy matrimony and they are in stable homes such as Cde Mike Gava and we are proud of them as they are responsible citizens,” he said.

Cde Sikhosana said youths in Bulawayo must work towards ensuring that Zanu PF wins the next elections.
The city also had no Zanu PF councillor and he said Bulawayo should become a part of the country by bringing back all lost seats in 2018 elections.

He said Zanu PF was against rogue youths who misbehave hence there was a need to clip a few wings of those youths that were not exemplary.

Speaking on the sidelines of the celebrations Ambassador Mphoko said youths must take an active role in rebuilding industry as they still had the opportunity.

“Youths here have an advantage in that Bulawayo already has the infrastructure already, the industries are there and the manpower is there, once resourced well the youth can make a difference,” he said.

Zanu PF Bulawayo provincial chairman Dr Callistus Ndlovu said the youth had to carry on with the work of their leaders once they are gone.
“I would like to thank the youth league for organising this function together with the business community that assists them. We have met the business community in a friendly manner without hostility,” said Dr Ndlovu.

Speaking at the same function the Minister of State for Provincial Affairs in Bulawayo Cde Eunice Nomthandazo Moyo said the city should realise that they had a great leader to look up to and should be seen emulating his work.

She said the youth should also respect their leadership.
