Youths urged to join ZNA as officer cadets

In an interview, Governor Mathema said youths from Bulawayo, Matabeleland North and South should come in their large numbers and be recruited into the force.

“We urge all Advanced Level certificate holders in the three provinces of Matabeleland to come in their large numbers to join the ZNA as officer cadets. There is an on-going national recruitment exercise and those who are interested can visit my office for assistance or go to HQ One Brigade and see the commander Brigadier-General Thomas Moyo or Colonel Brave Matavire,” said Governor Mathema.

“The army belongs to all of us and therefore every community, district and province should be reflected in the force, including at officers’ level. We want army officers from this region as well.”

Governor Mathema said joining the army was a prestigious achievement as the force offered a lot of opportunities and benefits to its members.

“Being a soldier is a beautiful career everywhere in the world. I encourage our youths to consider it. Once you are in the army you can do a lot of courses and the force will support you. We have many learned leaders and politicians who started as junior soldiers.

“ZNA is one of the best armies in the world having participated in different United Nations peace-keeping missions. Our youths should also join the police force and the Zimbabwe Prison Service (ZPS),” said Governor Mathema.
