ZANU-PF deputy secretary for administration Cde July Moyo has urged youths not to wait for the government for employment opportunities saying they should also be enterprising. In a speech he delivered during the MP’s Trophy Tournament which was held on Saturday in Chiundura where he was the guest of honour, Cde Moyo said youths can start their own ventures after consulting on funding. “As the youths in Zimbabwe and as the youths in Chiundura, let’s not wait saying the government will create employment opportunities for us as on our own we can indigenise and start our own projects like poultry , building and garden projects ,” said Cde Moyo.

“If we’ve any successful projects in mind to start, we can always consult our elders who can help us with ideas and funding.” Cde Moyo assured the people that the government will give them inputs ahead of the coming agricultural season and added that maize was being imported to avert hunger.

He applauded Chiundura MP, Cde Kizito Chivamba, for coming up with the football tournament, not just for fun but to keep the youths from the constituency occupied and help those talented to play for established teams in Zimbabwe. “Keeping the youths busy will help them not to be involved in any criminal activities and that’s what we always support,” he said.

Cde Chivamba also showed great appreciation to the Zimbabwe Electricity Transmission and Distribution Company (ZETDC) and Sino Zimbabwe for employing youths from the constituency. “We’re grateful to these two companies Sino Zimbabwe and ZETDC Southern Regional Manager, Eng. King Dube for helping us to provide almost 150 working contracts for our youths and we hope that more companies will chip in with more of these contracts to help our children,” he said.

“It’s now our duty as the youths to extend the providing hand by creating our own employment in doing projects enhancing indigenisation.” At the end of the ceremony, football teams were handed prizes by Cde Moyo and Senator Tsitsi Muzenda while the overall best team of the tournament, Ilwisa Team from Ward 14, won the MP’s trophy and $200.
