The National Organisation for Development and Empowerment (NODE), an affiliate of Zanu PF, is expanding its empowerment initiatives in 2025 to enhance community livelihoods.
Established in 2012, NODE focuses on empowering women, youth, and disadvantaged groups, aligning with the party’s revolutionary ethos.
Recently, NODE held a strategic meeting in Kwekwe, where leaders from all 10 provinces and national executive committee members discussed challenges and growth strategies for upcoming projects.
Spokesperson Mrs Tariro Hope-Kachasu acknowledged the organisation’s funding difficulties but emphasised plans to broaden opportunities across various sectors.
“This strategic meeting was attended by all our 10 provinces’ leadership as we look at how we can overcome challenges and improve livelihoods,” she said.
NODE aims to explore opportunities in the mining sector, particularly by securing mining claims for its members in the Midlands.
In light of the last season drought, NODE is committed to ensuring food security.
Mrs Hope-Kachasu highlighted efforts to secure land for farming projects, especially for women to establish nutrition gardens and engage in production activities, such as detergent making.
“Although these projects have been ongoing, we need to expand them to supply supermarkets with products like dishwashers and toilet cleaners. All we need is land and funding,” she said.
Additionally, NODE has been involved in gold and lithium mining, with plans to enter the chrome mining sector through partnerships with mining companies.
Chairperson Cde Blessing Murendo reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to uplifting the underprivileged through various empowerment projects and sports initiatives.
He emphasised the importance of these efforts in fostering economic growth and addressing social challenges such as drug abuse and teen pregnancies.
“We want to complement the Government’s efforts by providing opportunities in mining, sport, farming, and other projects,” he said.
Cde Murendo also expressed a desire to mobilise more individuals to join or re-join Zanu PF, showcasing the benefits of empowerment initiatives as a means to attract former members back to the party.
With over 300 members across Zimbabwe and in neighbouring countries like South Africa and Botswana, NODE remains dedicated to its mission of community empowerment and sustainable development.
