Legacy TV, a brainchild of the children of the Veterans of the Liberation Struggle has honoured Zanu PF party structures and affiliates with Vapostori and Zion4ED winning the prestigious award of the Most Outstanding Organisation.
As the State and church remain inseparable, the apostolic sect organisation is among Zanu PF’s affiliates that relentlessly canvassed support for President Mnangagwa and the revolutionary party in the run-up to the peaceful August 23 harmonised elections.
Vapostori and MaZion for ED have been under the leadership of Madzibaba Moses Gwasarira who distinguished organised rallies to drum up support for the ruling party.
He also launched a number of empowerment programmes under which scores of people received capital to start business ventures.
Speaking after the presentation of the award, the organisation’s national spokesperson Madzibaba Mapuranga said it was an honour to be recognised for the sterling work of supporting the ruling party.
“God has blessed us through Legacy TV which has recognised us fully by acknowledging our role in uniting and mobilising support for President Mnangagwa and Zanu PF during the past elections. Vapostori and Zanu PF are one. We are indigenous churches which will continue to work for unity and with the ruling party,” he said.
Zanu PF Matabeleland North provincial chairperson Richard Moyo was conferred with the Lookout Masuku Consistency Award.
Legacy TV executive director and chief editor, director Cde Pardon Mangwende said the Legacy TV awards were an initiative of the children of the veterans of the struggle.
Cde Mangwende said without the liberation struggle there would be no independence in Zimbabwe so they are trying to motivate and encourage people to keep on safeguarding what the liberators fought for.
“That is why we came up with a concept of rewarding those who have excelled in various categories where they safeguard and protect the legacy of the liberation struggle,” he said.
“We have those who excelled in the party structures in trying to mobilise and educate people to honour or help Zimbabwe to achieve Vision 2030.”
Zanu PF Mashonaland West provincial chairman Cde Mary Mliswa-Chikoka hailed Legacy TV for organising the event saying the bestowment of the honours was appropriate.
Young Women in Business founder, Miss Apphia Nyasha Musavengana also received an award on behalf of the organisation for being the most outstanding empowerment organisation.
“We want to thank our ruling party Zanu PF and President Mnangagwa for remembering young women by availing them business opportunities. We managed to empower over 200 000 women,” said Miss Musavengana.
