ZANU-PF Gwanda- Tshitaudze Constituency candidate, Cde Fisani Moyo has hit the ground running by constructing a constituency centre as part of efforts to ensure visibility in the event he wins in the harmonised elections.
The centre will house the MP’s office, a boardroom, five administrative offices, a secretary’s office and a 500-seater community hall, which will be accessible to the community.
Cde Moyo said the centre will house a political administration office that will handle different developmental and empowerment projects such as farming, mining, poultry and infrastructure development.
He said the target is to complete the constituency centre in a month’s time and the aspiring MP is optimistic that he will win in the elections.
“I’m in the process of constructing a constituency centre so that once I assume office, I will have a place where I can operate from and where people can access me and parliamentary services which they may need,” said Cde Moyo.
“People need a place where they can air their concerns and where they can access development which they voted for. The trend which is there nowadays is that the MPs don’t have a central point where constituents can access them and I want to change this.”
Cde Moyo said he will ensure that he is found at the constituency centre most of the time.
“On days where I will be attending to other duties, there will be competent personnel stationed at the centre to attend to the concerns of the people,” he said.
Cde Moyo said he will be working closely with the local leadership that include councillors. He said the centre will benefit all members of the constituency regardless of their political affiliation.
Cde Moyo said his constituency has been lagging in terms of development largely because it has been under the opposition. He has already initiated several development projects.
Cde Moyo said the constituency centre will administer the implementation of most development projects.
“My target is to ensure that I remain visible to the community and work within the community. I also want people to be able to hold me accountable. I don’t want to be an MP who meets people on the road,” he said.
Cde Moyo who has initiated a number of development projects, said people will be getting regular updates on various projects being implemented in the constituency.
He has supported the construction of classroom blocks at different schools in his constituency and is also promoting the establishment of orchards at schools.
Other projects that he has initiated include poultry projects for women and drilling of boreholes.
Cde Moyo is also paying school fees for vulnerable children and recently donated three ambulances to Gwanda and Beitbridge municipalities. – @DubeMatutu
