The Zanu PF 22nd Annual National People’s Conference enters its second day with a Central Committee meeting at the Party headquarters in Harare today.

Central Committee members from all provinces have started arriving for the meeting that will be chaired by Zanu PF First Secretary and President, Cde Mnangagwa.

President hands over vehicles to Central Committee members

ZANU PF First Secretary and President Cde Mnangagwa has handed over 20 vehicles to Central Committee members at the party headquarters.

All Central Committee members have now received their allocation as 47 vehicles were handed over at State House this morning.

The President has now entered the auditorium where he will address the 128th Ordinary Session of the Central Committee.

Warm welcome for President Mnangagwa

A palpable sense of excitement filled the air as Central Committee members warmly received the First Secretary and President, Cde Emmerson Mnangagwa.

The atmosphere was electric with anticipation, showcasing the party’s unity and commitment to its agenda. The rhythmic clapping and cheers created a spirited ambiance, reinforcing the collective strength of the party’s members.

Under the Zanu PF party constitution, the Central Committee’s powers and functions include:

– Making rules, regulations, and procedures for the Party

– Implementing Congress policies, resolutions, and programs

– Directing, supervising, and overseeing Central Government functions related to Congress programs

– Setting up committees, institutions, commissions, and enterprises

– Convening Congress sessions

– Formulating Congress agenda and procedures

– Meeting every 3 months or in special sessions

– Amending the Constitution (subject to Congress ratification)

 

Zanu PF Central Committee is the principal organ of the Congress and consists of 230 members drawn from the Party’s country 10 Provinces.

It acts on behalf of Congress when it is not in session and among other things; implement all policies, resolutions, directives, decisions, and programs enunciated by Congress.

President Mnangagwa highlights agricultural progress and national development

ZANU PF First Secretary and President Cde Mnangagwa has delivered his address at the 128th Ordinary Session of the Central Committee.

In his speech, President Mnangagwa highlighted achievements in the agricultural sector.

“I congratulate our stakeholders in the agriculture sector and the party for the milestone achievements realised to date. Kuma province kwamunobva ndinofara kunzwa kuti varimi vedu vazhinji varikushanda,” the President said.

To strengthen national food security and resilience, the President announced that agricultural inputs are already being distributed by the ZANU PF-led Government.

He urged farmers to accelerate preparations for the upcoming season.

“The Central Committee, working with other structures of the Party, should ensure that no one and no place is left behind in terms of accessing these inputs,” he added.

Beyond agriculture, President Mnangagwa highlighted ZANU PF’s ongoing efforts to implement programmes that have helped the country overcome illegal sanctions and achieve substantial economic development.

Looking ahead, he reaffirmed the party’s commitment to policies that foster unity, peace, prosperity, and sustainable development.

“Our colossal mass party will continue to implement policies that consolidate unity, peace, prosperity and sustainable development,” said the President.
