The delegation is expected back in the country on July 3.
Zanu-PF secretary for external relations, Cde Stan Mudenge, yesterday said the visit was meant to cement a well-established “unique comradeship” between the parties. “Zanu-PF and the CPC enjoy a long standing revolutionary relationship and the visit would enhance and further strengthen this unique comradeship, which spawns over decades since the days of Zimbabwe’s liberation struggle. This relationship has surpassed the test of time,” he said.
He said the visit was one of the several successful and fruitful programmes undertaken by the two revolutionary parties.
“Following the signing of the cooperation agreement between the two parties last year, important exchanges have taken place in form of visits to China and vice versa,” he said.
President Mugabe and CPC last year signed a memorandum of understanding to promote political exchanges and co-operation between the two parties.
Cde Mudenge described China as an “all weather friend” of Zimbabwe, adding that the CPC had in the past extended invaluable support to Zanu-PF in various fields, which included politics, economy and technology.
He said apart from Beijing, the delegation would also visit Shanghai and Tianjin.
The delegation’s visit coincides with celebrations to mark CPC’s 90th anniversary on July 1.
Zanu-PF considers the CPC as a brother and the material support it got from China during the liberation struggle and at the United Nations Security Council meeting in 2008, continue to bind the two parties together.
China alongside Russia vetoed proposed UN Security Council resolution to impose sweeping sanctions on Zimbabwe, a move Zanu-PF says the country will always be grateful for.
High level exchange visits between the two countries have been going on.
