ZANU PF has this week deployed senior party members to supervise the cell and village verification programme across the country’s 10 provinces.

The cell and village restructuring exercise, which runs until Sunday, is designed to take stock of the ruling party’s membership and to recruit new ones, especially youths.

The exercise started on June 17, with branch executive committees expected to physically carry out the restructuring of cells and villages under their jurisdictions, with supervision from district and provincial leaders.

Head counting started smoothly across the country, with the process expected to end on July 17, but was later extended to September 30.

The restructuring exercise began with the convening of the Provincial Co-ordinating Committee (PCC), inter-district and inter-branch meetings.

Zanu PF First Secretary and President, Cde Mnangagwa, has emphasised that the cell restructuring exercise must see more new members joining the party.

The cell restructuring exercise is being conducted by branch executive members, supervised by district and provincial party members.

A circular released by Zanu PF said the Commissariat department has deployed Politburo members and Central Committee members to supervise the process and complete the restructuring of party cells and villages in various provinces.

“This deployment has been done to assist your provinces meet the deadline of September 30, 2024 to complete the exercise,” reads the circular.

Political Commissar Cde Munyaradzi Machacha yesterday confirmed the development, saying they are expecting members to meet the deadline.

“We want members to come up with authentic cells in their provinces,” said Cde Machacha.

Mashonaland East political commissar Cde Lincoln Matare said they will have a PCC meeting tomorrow to ensure the exercise is carried without hiccups.

The senior party officials that have been deployed will be visiting different districts. The election of cell and village executive committees shall be done through secret ballot, with the new leadership tasked to immediately conduct verification of members in their cells and villages to flush out imposters.
