Zanu-PF embodies progress, development — Cde Mohadi

PRESIDENT Mnangagwa has laid a solid foundation for inclusive development in his first five-year term of office and the electorate must vote for Zanu-PF, which embodies developmental continuity and progress.

Zanu-PF Second Secretary, Cde Kembo Mohadi, said this yesterday while addressing thousands of party supporters during a rally held at John Landa High School grounds in Tsholotsho.

He said while Zanu-PF is confident of winning the general election, it wants to win resoundingly so that the opposition parties will not find excuses when they lose.

“Zimbabweans should vote for development because Zanu-PF is the only party that will bring you development. Let’s vote for Zanu-PF President, its councillors and MPs and shame our detractors,” he said.

“We should win resoundingly so that our detractors will not make excuses. If we get 80 percent of the vote what excuse will our detractors have? We have an upper hand, let’s go and vote peacefully on Wednesday. Let’s continue being peaceful and see what excuses they will take to the courts,” he said.

“Voting Zanu-PF will enable the President to fulfil his vision of alleviating poverty in line with his mission to transform the country into an upper middle-income by 2030.”

Cde Mohadi said while he has served in Government for many years, President Mnangagwa has proved to be a visionary leader whose thrust is to change the narrative for all Zimbabweans.

He said President Mnangagwa was walking the talk on his philosophy on not leaving any community behind and made reference to places like Binga, which had been previously marginalised for years but is now experiencing massive development under the Second Republic.

“In Binga 87 solar-powered boreholes have been drilled to improve access to water. This is a community that was said to be marginalised. As Zanu-PF we don’t want anyone to be left behind,” said Cde Mohadi.

“If given another five years, there will be vast improvement in such communities. We will fix Tsholotsho-Solusi Road and Tsholotsho-Nyamandlovu Road. We are going to build these roads. You need to be accessible. We have also installed the chief for San community so that they are not left behind.”

Cde Mohadi said President Mnangagwa’s Government has made significant strides towards infrastructural development at national and local level where roads are being constructed.

He said the rehabilitation of Beitbridge Border Post, the Robert Mugabe International Airport in Harare and reconstruction of Beitbridge-Masvingo-Harare Highway were some of the milestones achieved under the Second Republic.

The Government has also moved in to address hunger through improved food production by adopting climate-proofed farming techniques and increasing funding for the sector.

“So, we introspected on how we should alleviate poverty and address food insecurity, we resolved that we should construct water bodies and establish irrigation projects within communities.

“We had done that, there is not even a single province except Bulawayo and Harare where we didn’t construct dams,” he said.

Cde Mohadi said Lake Gwayi-Shangani, which successive administrations failed to construct is 80 percent complete and will be completed end of the year, if not, by March next year. The Second Republic has also resolved the country’s power crisis by putting an end to load shedding through the expansion of Hwange Thermal Power Station.

“We are saying take a look at what we have done as the Second Republic. Our policy as Zanu-PF is that we leave no one and no place behind. That is why we are saying ilizwe lakhiwa ngabaninilo,” he said.

“We are not telling fairytales, we talk development. Our request from you Tsholotsho people is that you vote Zanu-PF. In the next five years Zimbabwe will never be same again. Those who left the country are going to come back again.

“Zimbabwe is going to reclaim the position as the bread basket of the continent, Zimbabwe is going to be the bread basket of Africa.”

Cde Mohadi said the country will leverage on its land, minerals to transform lives of the citizens and was already remodelling its higher and tertiary education sector to produce graduates who are solution-oriented.

Matabeleland North Zanu-PF provincial chairman Cde Richard Moyo said the province is geared towards elections and victory is guaranteed. — @nqotshili
